Who Died in the Blue Bloods Series Finale? Major Character’s Death

The Blue Bloods series finale was a sad farewell to the franchise as one character was killed off the show. After weeks of speculation, fans were hit with the heartbreaking news within the first few minutes of the show’s final episode.

Who Died in the ‘Blue Bloods’ Finale?

The episode was extremely fast moving, with one character getting killed off almost immediately. It was Luis Badillo, played by Ian Quinlan, who was killed off during the show’s season 14 series finale on December 13, 2024.

Badillo and Eddie Janko-Reagan were called to a possible car jacking. They showed up at the scene but there was nobody in the car in question. They went up to the car to investigate and a man on a motorcycle ambushed them from behind. He began firing at them. As Eddie called for Badillo, she realized he wasn’t responding. She saw he was on the ground with a gunshot wound over by the car with blood pouring out of his mouth.

The incident left Eddie in the hospital. But sadly, Badillo was the one who fell victim to the violet gangs pillaging the city in the show. When Eddie was informed of Badillo’s death, she was extremely upset. Jamie tried to comfort her, but she made it clear that she was not letting Badillo’s death go unanswered.

Mayor Peter Chase was also shot by a masked man while unveiling a monument in the city. Peter survived the shooting, telling Frank to do everything he could to find the gunman.

The rest of the episode became about finding the perpetrator of all of the shootings going on around the city. Eddie later was joined by Danny and Baez in the ER, where he gave her a talk about taking care of herself. “I want to help. I need to help,” she insisted. Danny said that Eddie was “one of the toughest cops” he had ever known and that he admired her passion for wanting to catch Badillo’s killer. Eventually, she was back on her feet and searching for the shooter to avenge Badillo’s death.

Badillo’s Killer Was Caught

Badillo’s shooter was expecting a baby. When the baby was born, he visited the hospital to see it. Jamie and Joe were waiting there for him at the hospital and arrested him. Eddie cuffed the shooter with Badillo’s handcuffs.

Inside Badillo’s Funeral on ‘Blue Bloods’

The NYPD showed their support for Badillo’s family as they gathered at his funeral. His mother was in attendance as they laid the fallen officer to rest. The Reagan family was in attendance at the funeral, sitting in the front row. They saluted his coffin before it was lowered into the ground.

Badillo has been a character on the show since 2021. Fans got to know his character more when he became Eddie’s partner. He got into a bit of trouble toward the end of season 14 when he was caught smoking weed. However, Jamie decided to cover for him and instead received a citation. Despite his rocky relationships with some of the characters on the show, it still hurts to see him go.

“Take a good look around you, Luis’ whole family is here today,” Frank told Badillo’s mom at the funeral, showing support for her after her son’s tragic death.
