The wildfires raging in the Los Angeles area, wreaking widespread havoc and destruction, and several soap stars lost their homes to the blazes. That list includes Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R), Cameron Mathison (Drew, GH), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, Y&R), Jennifer Gareis (Donna, B&B) and Jessica Serfaty (ex-Sloan, DAYS). Braeden was taken back to his home by Entertainment Tonight and was overwhelmed by emotions. “I didn’t think it it would hit me this much,” he told the outlet. “I’m devastated, man. I’m devastated. All the memories. I don’t want my family to see this.”

Leslie Charleson, who played Monica Quartermaine on GH for almost 50 years, passed away at age 79. Her first role in daytime was over 60 years ago when she was cast as Pam on A Flame In The Wind. She was cast on GH in 1974 and her work on the ABC soap would go on to earn her four Daytime Emmy nominations. Her pairing with the late Stuart Damon’s Alan would be her most enduring on the show, with the work they did on her breast cancer storyline being a standout for the actress. “Of course working with him on the breast cancer storyline, there was so much trust there all the time. With him opposite me, I felt like I could do anything,” she told Digest during an interview in 2022.
