Denzel Washington clarifies ‘Gladiator’ kiss after director said it never happened – Sandra Rose
Denzel Washington clarified his same-sex kiss in “Gladiator II” after director Ridley Scott said it never happened.
If you recall, Washington said he kissed an actor in the film, but the scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.
“I actually kissed a man in the film but they took it out, they cut it. I think they got chicken. I kissed a guy full on the lips and I guess they weren’t ready for that yet,” he told Gayety magazine, according to Variety.
Black women were surprised that Washington kissed a male actor when he refused to kiss Julia Roberts out of respect for his marriage.
But Washington walked back his comments after director Ridley Scott said the ghey kiss never happened.
The Oscar-winning actor said the public’s reaction to his ghey kiss was “much ado about nothing.”
“They’re making more of it than it was. I kissed him on his hands, I gave him a peck and I killed him,” Washington said at a Hollywood premiere.
Fans argue that this is another example of gay for pay — straight people using the LGBTQ+ community for clout.
