FEMA Fires Supervisor Who Instructed Relief Workers to Avoid Homes with Trump Signs – Sandra Rose
A FEMA supervisor who instructed disaster relief workers to avoid helping people in homes with Trump signs has been fired. Officials told the Daily Wire that FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington was let go after she told workers to avoid houses with Trump signs outside.
“Avoid homes advertising Trump,” Washington wrote in a “best practices” memo.
According to the Daily Wire’s exclusive report, the FEMA officials were working in Highlands County, Florida, in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
At least 20 homes were bypassed by FEMA workers due to Trump signage and flags outside.
Photos shared in the report showed homes that were passed over by FEMA agents. In the notes, the agents described the homes as “not able to access property” and included explanations, such as “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” “Per leadership no stop Trump flag,” “Trump sign,” and “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”
A formal complaint to FEMA questioned state-sanctioned discrimination against Americans for their political beliefs.
“This behavior raises significant concerns of discrimination against United States citizens because of their political views,” the complaint said. “These actions not only undermine the integrity of our agency and create a hostile work environment for those who may hold differing political beliefs but they also threaten the very democracy of our country.”
A FEMA employee said: “I volunteered to help disaster victims, not discriminate against them. It didn’t matter if people were black, white, Hispanic, for Trump, for Harris. Everyone deserves the same amount of help.”
After the scandal went viral online, FEMA issued a statement to the New York Post.
“FEMA helps all survivors regardless of their political preference or affiliation and we are deeply disturbed by this employee’s actions,” an agency spokesperson told The Post.
“While we believe this is an isolated incident, we have taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again,” they added.
“The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes, and we are reaching out to the people who may have not been reached as a result of this incident.”
“We are horrified that this took place and therefore have taken extreme actions to correct this situation and have ensured that the matter was addressed at all levels,” the rep said.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also issued a statement.
“The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days,” DeSantis wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“At my direction, the Division of Emergency Management is launching an investigation into the federal government’s targeted discrimination of Floridians who support Donald Trump,” he added.
After being terminated, Washington reportedly changed her name (but not her profile photo) on her social media accounts.
Apparently, she has two names
