In 1982, Victoria Lord (Erika Slezak) and Clint Buchanan (Clint Ritchie) were married on One Life To Live. The ceremony was conducted at Llanfair, from which they had just evicted Victoria’s former stepmother, Dorian Lord. Dorian attended the wedding, as did a wide array of Llanview residents including Edwina, Wanda, Rafe and Delila. Viki’s two young sons, Kevin and Joey, stood with her at the altar, with Bo serving as best man. The couple gazed into one another’s eyes while repeating their vows after the minister. After the ceremony, they celebrated with their guests at a bustling reception.

In 1990, Palmer Cortlandt (James Mitchell) and Opal Gardner (Jill Larson) said, “I do” on All My Children. In the lead-up to the wedding, Opal called off the ceremony when Palmer’s slimy nephew, Will Cortlandt, pushed Palmer to present Opal with a prenup and Opal reacted badly, convinced Palmer didn’t trust her. They mended fences and the wedding was back on. “I’m so nervous, I think I’m gonna faint!” Opal told her son, Tad, and his bride, Dixie, as she prepared to walk down the aisle, which was flanked by a wide array of Pine Valley residents, including Erica Kane, Travis Montgomery, Brooke English, Jackson Montgomery, Tom Cudahy and Langley Wallingford. After a short ceremony, they were pronounced husband and wife and shared a tender kiss.

In 1993, General Hospital‘s Bill Eckert died in the arms of look-alike cousin Luke Spencer. Both roles were played by Anthony Geary, but when Geary’s first GH alter, Luke, came back into the storyline, the show brought his stint as Bill, which had kicked off in 1991, to an end. In the story, Bill was mistaken for Luke and shot dead by goons working for Luke’s longtime rival, mafioso Frank Smith. Bill left behind a grieving son, Sly.

In 2012, Day of Our Lives‘s Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) told Will Horton (Chandler Massey) that she was pregnant. Will, who had just consummated his new romance with Sonny Kiriakis, initially assumed that the baby’s father was Gabi’s new beau, Nick Fallon. He was stunned when Gabi clarified that she was approximately three months along, and that Will was the father, the result of the duo’s one-night stand. Will pledged his support to Gabi and tried to comfort her, and he heaved a sigh when Gabi revealed that Will’s mom, Sami, had overheard her doctor telling her the news about her condition. Will and Gabi’s daughter, Arianna, was born in 2013.

In 2013, Cynthia Watros made her Young and Restless debut as Kelly Andrews, who was in the same grief counseling group as Billy Abbott. Watros was a previous Daytime Emmy winner for her work as Annie Dutton on Guiding Light. She left Y&R the following year due to a previous contractual obligation to another series, Finding Carter, when the pilot was picked up to go to series. She explained to Soap Opera Digest in 2019, “I felt really bad having to leave that show, but I was under contract with Finding Carter, so I had to leave.” Upon her exit, the role was recast with Cady McClain.
