The IPL 2025 mega-auction is already giving chills down the spine within the very first hour of the much-anticipated event. This time it’s not for the overseas players, but rather the Indian powerhouses released and set into the first set of marquee players.

After the mighty auction began with Arshdeep Singh being bought for a huge INR 18 crore, this seemed just a start about what was going to come ahead. A huge amount of money is spent in the very first set as two of IPL’s most expensive players have been bought into the sides.

Shreyas Iyer was picked for a huge INR 26.75 crore.

Iyer has been picked for an all-time high price, which took many players by shock. Shreyas Iyer seemed to be a much anticipated big buy; however, Iyer considered for the captaincy role seemed much in demand for the Punjab Kings, as Ponting’s tactics paid off here.

Keeping Iyer in mind, Delhi Capitals also guided the Punjab Kings to Iyer’s record bid, which surpassed the likes of Virat Kohli as the highest-paid Indian player and then went past Heinrich Klaasen and Mitchell Starc to emerge as the highest-bid player in the IPl mega-auction.

Rishabh Pant breaks records within minutes of its making

Iconic Indian batter Pant has been bought by the Lucknow Super Giants, which didn’t seem very anticipated, as all had thought of Chennai Super Kings, who totally seemed uninterested in the player, while even Punjab Kings were not ready to bid on the old Ponting’s acquaintance.

Pant, the definite player and supposedly a skipper, will head to the city of ‘Tehzeeb,’ which is Lucknow. LSG quoted their final bid at INR 27 crore, which left the Delhi Capitals speechless, and hence they retreated from calling it into the RTM.

Pant is now officially the costliest player in the mega-auction, with a huge INR 27 crore to the LSG.
