Jessica Alba has spoken out in a statement after her shocking split from Cash Warren.
“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals,” she wrote on Instagram on Thursday, January 16.
“We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family,” the statement continued. “Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”
The couple shares three children together: Honor, Haven and Hayes. Jessica and Cash got married in 2008.
It was reported by TMZ on January 8 that Jessica and Cash called it quits on their marriage after 16 years. At the time, the reason for their breakup was unclear, per the outlet, however, Jessica was spotted out without her wedding ring on her finger. Cash was also seen out in public without his ring on his finger in recent weeks leading up to the split announcement. The outlet reported they were headed for divorce.
Following the news, an insider told Life & Style that the former couple’s decision to end things was “basically a matter of growing apart.”
“They’re being very honest about their feelings, and why it’s the right time to move on. No one is placing blame,” the insider told the outlet on January 10. “Jessica and Cash aren’t bitter, they still like each other and plan on staying cordial.”
The source said that right now, the Honey actress and the film producer are focused on “healthy coparenting and making this transition as smooth as possible” for their children.
A source also told Life & Style that Jessica and Cash have had some highs and lows in their relationship, but divorce was never on the table in the past. Now, things have seemingly changed.
“Jessica and Cash have had their ups and downs over the years, but they always said that divorce was never an option,” the source said. “Well, that’s all changed.”
For his part, Cash has not posted on his Instagram feed since September 26, 2024. He did not immediately speak out about their split. His last post featured photos of his daughters, Haven and Honor, as he gave them a shout-out for National Daughters Day.
“Happy National Daughters Day! Honor and Haven, from the moment you took your first breaths, I knew you’d have me wrapped around your fingers,” the dad of three captioned the post. “I always assumed being a dad would change my life but I could have never imagined how much it would change my soul. Thank you for making Dad life so damn fulfilling. Thank you for helping me grow. Thank you for choosing me and your mom to help guide you through life. You both are my everything. Love you always, me.”
