Lainey Wilson has been dating Devlin “Duck” Hodges for over three years and she’s planning for the future with him, a source exclusively tells Life & Style.
“Everything is going so well in Lainey’s life,” the source shares. “She’s back on Yellowstone, she’s touring and promoting her hit album [Whirlwind,] and she’s one of the most-nominated female artists in the business. What she wants now is to be married with a baby on the way.”
The insider says that Lainey, 32, loves what Duck brings to her life. “She likes that he’s frugal like her and is supportive without being too clingy,” the source continues. “Duck lets her do what she wants and have her own space. She never thought she’d be yearning for some of the domestic things in life, but she is now.”
Now that the country superstar is “ready for the next step,” she may take matters into her own hands. “She’ll have no trouble proposing to him if push comes to shove,” the source concludes. “But it shouldn’t be a problem. He likes to hear her talk about the future.”
For the most part, Lainey has kept her relationship with the former NFL star, 28, out of the public eye. In fact, they had already been dating for two years when she went public with him at the 2023 ACM Awards. It wasn’t until a few weeks before the awards show that fans started suspecting that Lainey had a special someone in her life.
“What’s funny is literally a couple weeks before [the ACM Awards], we had played out in Pittsburgh and me and my band all wore Duck Hodges jerseys,” Lainey once recalled on The Bobby Bones Show, referencing how Duck used to play for the Steelers. “And so that kind of started a few rumors.”
After Lainey won big at the 2023 CMA Awards, Duck publicly praised her on Instagram. “She already heard what I’m fixing to say, but I just want y’all to hear it once,” he wrote. “This girl is the most hard-working person I know. Her work ethic and her desire to be the best person she can be is contagious. I’m so happy that all the hard work continues to pay off. Congrats on all the awards last night and especially the BIGGEST AWARD OF THE NIGHT! ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR!”
In August, Lainey revealed that Duck is now working in “real estate and coaching” after retiring from professional football. “He’s thriving,” she gushed. She also opened up about why she’s decided to keep their relationship private.
“There’s going to be some things that we can’t escape and people are going to say and do whatever, but me and him are on the same page about the less we put out there, the less that we’re going to have to deal with people making anything up and saying anything,” she told Billboard in May. “We want to keep that as sacred as we possibly can between me and him, and so far, it has worked for us.”
