Mika Brzezinski certainly got into the holiday spirit in a new video. The Morning Joe cohost danced along to “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” in a clip shared in her Instagram Stories on Thursday, December 12.
In the video, Mika, 57, held onto a green and red coffee cup and pretended to play the trumpet as the song played in the background. The Know Your Value creator danced along from side to side while the holiday tune could be heard.
She was getting her hair done in the clip, as a hairstylist took rollers out of her hair and teased her hair with a comb. She wrote, “makeupbywilbert makes it all OK.”
After sharing the video, Mika shared another look at her day, this time sitting at the desk at Morning Joe. “Getting ready for another episode of …” the behind-the-scenes clip said. She sat in front of the camera and the recognizable background as audio of a reporter speaking could be heard playing in the distance.
The posts didn’t stop there, as the broadcaster also showed off an interesting piece of decor inside of the studio — a picture frame featuring a moving image of her while she was fixing her hair. “Morning Mika (This is strange why am I in a picture)” she wrote alongside the video in her Instagram Stories.
The posts came a couple of weeks after Mika deleted her X account. The New York native has been cohosting Morning Joe since 2007 with her now-husband, Joe Scarborough. Last year ahead of the holidays, Mika opened up about grieving the death of her mom, who passed away in July 2022.
“The holidays are upon us. So often, and for so many, this time of year is filled with warmth and joy. For many others, it’s a hard walk down memory lane — with a side of pain, an extra heaping of disappointment and a main course of grief,” she wrote in a post for MSNBC in December 2023.
“This year, I’m in all those groups. I’m grieving and feeling like a failure. At the same time, I’m also able to see that there are many blessings to count. Afterall, several things can be true at the same time,” Mika added. “My mom passed away last year. Both of my parents are now gone. And the recent death of a family friend, former First Lady Rosalyn Carter — triggered a hard truth: a beautiful chapter in my life is over.”
Mika recalled memories from living in a farmhouse with her parents in McLean, Virginia, and the holiday traditions they created there.
“This holiday season, it may feel little quiet and a little too different,” she wrote in the post at the time. “It definitely won’t look anything like those incredible gatherings in McLean. Sometime soon, I hope we cross the bridge into the future and create new traditions and make new memories. We will be happy at times and sad at others. In the end, we’ll be OK. And so will you. You can do this. I want to wish you an OK Christmas, from the bottom of my heart.”
