Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have joined the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan, bringing the total number of players to 21 as Nigeria gears up for the crucial final two qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Osimhen, the reigning African Player of the Year, alongside Atlanta’s standout Lookman, adds strength to the squad as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
The camp officially opened on Monday, with eight players making their way to Abidjan that evening, focusing on training and discipline ahead of the games.
The Super Eagles will compete against the Benin Republic at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Thursday for Matchday Five, before hosting Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo for Matchday Six.
With this latest update, 21 players are currently in camp for the Super Eagles. The roster includes notable talents such as Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla, goalkeeper Maduka Okoye from Udinese, and Victor Boniface, alongside the aforementioned Lookman and Osimhen.
Team captain William Troost-Ekong is also present, alongside Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, Alhassan Yusuf from the U.S., and Bright Osayi-Samuel from Turkey. The squad is completed by Fulham’s Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Victor Collin, Amas Obasogie, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Samuel Chukwueze, Gabriel Osho, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
With 10 points from their first four matches, Nigeria currently tops its group and needs just one more point from the final two games to secure their spot for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco next year.
