Fans saw some of the less glamorous aspects of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City newcomer Bronwyn Newport’s home. The mom of one said she was “mortified” about the dog poop seen in her house in one of the season 5 episodes.
“I did not know until I saw the episode,” Bronwyn, 39, said in an interview with Us Weekly published on Thursday, November 21.
She continued, “My daughter is kind of the dog whisper in our house, and she came to me when she saw the episode and she was like, ‘I am so embarrassed. Our house is so clean. How could this be what it looks like?’ And I was like, ‘Well, I guess that’s what it was that day.’”
In episode 7, Bronwyn invited RHOSLC costar Heather Gay to her home with hopes of smoothing things over between them before the group headed to Palm Springs. While Heather, 50, was there, she noticed a couple of messes left by Bronwyn’s six Boxers.
“If Mary [Cosby’s] house reminded me of Whoville, Bronwyn’s house reminds me of the Pound Puppies’ palace,” Heather snarked in a one-on-one interview with producers. “I want to keep eye contact, but I also want to be careful where I step. Might I suggest next time that the first person to see your home be the pooper scoopers.”
However, Bronwyn told the outlet that Heather’s comments were “fair,” considering how her house looked that day.
“I’ve never been in Heather’s house, so I cannot return the compliment or lack of,” Bronwyn joked. “I was out of control, busy that day. I had a new puppy. It was snowing and it [was] totally on me. If the camera crews caught the poop in my house, I would’ve showed [it] if I was production too.”
The reality star admitted that the fact that she and Heather were at odds the day the Bad Mormon author saw the dog poop might have played into Heather’s negative comments.
“I understand Heather and I were not friends. We were not in a great place. We had a very rough conversation that day,” Bronwyn explained. “I might’ve been shady about anything I could have been if I was Heather too, and I gave her good reason. There was dog poop on my floor. My house was being remodeled. She didn’t miss an opportunity to take a lick.”
Heather and the new Real Housewives of Salt Lake City addition have been butting heads throughout season 5. But Bronwyn clarified that there was “more to the story” that fans would have to wait and see “play out on screen.”
“I think Heather is really witty. I would love to be friends with Heather. I also am happy to stay frenemies because I like arguing with Heather,” Bronwyn continued. “She’s a formidable opponent, so I appreciate that the other ladies see me as a formidable opponent too. Heather and I are figuring it out. You’ll see we have some resolution to come. We have some ups and downs.”
She concluded, “I think Heather and I are very similar, and if we get on a good page, I think we’ll stay on a good page. And I think we’re close to that. So I’m hopeful.”
