AUS vs IND: The physical altercation between Sam Konstas and Virat Kohli added to the heat of the Boxing Day test in the morning session of the India vs. Australia fourth test at the MCG.

The debutant went on to play a stunning debut innings at the MCG, as he became the second youngest Aussie debutant to have scored a half-century for them on debut.

The collision with veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli, as the legend shoulder-bumped the youngster to intimidate him, led to a few exchanges of words between the two cricketers.

Konstas, during the post-match interview, hailed Jaspirt Bumrah’s greatness as he later pulled the game to India’s favour by picking three crucial wickets at the back end of the day.

When asked about his altercation with Virat Kohli, Konstas humbly replied, “Virat Kohli accidentally bumped into me; that’s cricket and can happen with tension. I think the emotions got to both of us”.

Konstas seemed a very big admirer of the legendary cricketer, since before the Boxing Day test he remarked that the most famous person he had ever met was Virat Kohli.

Abhishek Nayar confirms Rohit at the top and clarifies Gill’s snub from the Indian 11

Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, after the post-match conference, clearly stated that Rohit Sharma will be back for India at the top. The Indian skipper, who has consecutively failed to score in the middle order, will be back in the opening spot alongside Jaiswal for the Boxing Day test.

He also clarified India’s strategic call over dropping Shubman Gill to make way for Washington Sundar. He said Gill is not dropped, but just the track at MCG called for an additional spinner in Washi.

Also, India opted for a heavy bowling deck, as NK Reddy and Washington Sundar were added as additional bowlers on the side.

“Looking at the MCG pitch, we felt Washington Sundar could give solidarity along with Jadeja. I feel for Shubman Gill, but he understands. He is not really dropped; he just couldn’t find his way in the team’s combination.”
