Shikha Pandey made a memorable debut for Canterbury Magicians in the Women’s Super Smash tournament, helping her side secure a 12-run victory against Otago Sparks.
Shikha scored 63 from 48 balls, which included nine boundaries, and helped the Magicians reach a total of 137. She then contributed with the ball, picking up two for 17 runs in her four overs.
Suzie Bates top scored for the Sparks with 50 runs from 41 balls but could not push her team over the line.

Shikha’s inclusion in the Magicians squad was announced on Thursday and she became the first Indian player to play in the league.
Earlier this year, she featured for Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and played an important role in its finish as runner up.
She was also part of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL).
Shikha last represented India in the T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa. She has 43 wickets to her name in 62 T20I matches while in the ODI format, Shikha featured in 55 matches and scalped 75 wickets.
