From one NFL couple to another! Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift both reacted to Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen’s Instagram post about their engagement.
For her part, Taylor, 34, gave the post a “like,” while Travis, 35, popped into the comments section to write, “Congratulations!!!” along with several clapping emojis.
Despite the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills having a longtime rivalry, Travis was clearly able to put the game aside to help the quarterback celebrate. His comment caught fans’ attention, with many begging him to be the next one to pop the question. “Trav, your move,” one person replied, while another added, “You next.”
Meanwhile, Taylor and Hailee, 27, go way back, with the Pitch Perfect star even making an appearance in Taylor’s 2015 music video for “Bad Blood.”
Josh, 28, and Hailee were first linked in May 2023, just weeks after fans began speculating that he had split from longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams (the exes were together for six years before their breakup). The professional athlete and actress have been extremely private about their relationship in the time since, but publicly announced their engagement on November 29.
In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared a photo of Josh’s romantic proposal, which featured him down on one knee under a massive floral arch with candles surrounding it. The caption featured two infinity symbols surrounding the date of the engagement, November 22.
Taylor actually attended a Chiefs vs. Bills playoff game at Buffalo in January, but skipped the regular season matchup in upstate New York in November, despite performing nearby in Toronto the evening before. “I have heard from people very close that it was not a great experience [for Taylor] in Buffalo,” Adam Lefkoe said on the Up & Adams Youtube show on November 14.
“I think that it kind of shocked the Kelce family and everyone related to the Kelce family the reception they got,” the sportscaster added, referring to how Travis’ family members, including Jason Kelce, were also at the January game. “I think they were kind of going in being like, ‘This is going to be an amazing game with good energy.’ And they got there and they experienced Bills Mafia in full form, in its complete ruthlessness. And I think they left and went, ‘I don’t know if I want to experience that again.’”
Although the Chiefs beat the Bills in last season’s playoffs, they lost their only game of the 2024 season so far to their rivals. However, they came back to win their next two games, including their most recent match against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 29. Taylor was in the stands at Arrowhead Stadium with Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce, for the game.
The Chiefs return to the field against the San Diego Chargers on December 8, which is also closing night for Taylor’s Eras tour. She’ll then be free to support her boyfriend for the remainder of the season and playoff run as the Chiefs look to win their third Super Bowl in a row.
