Kristen Doute is pregnant!
One year after suffering a tragic miscarriage and months after her fiance, Luke Broderick, 33, proposed during a filmed trip to Maui, Hawaii, for The Valley season two, Kristen, 41, who previously starred on Vanderpump Rules, is expecting her first child.
“After our pregnancy loss last year, we decided to start trying in early 2024,” Kristen revealed to PEOPLE on November 26. “I knew my age could be a factor in conceiving, so Luke and I discussed going for an extra push, a little help.”
“In late summer, we decided to meet with a fertility specialist to learn about our options and what could be the next step if we decided to go that route. The next month was a whirlwind — getting educated on fertility, and eventually hormone shots and preparing my body for IUI (intrauterine insemination),” she continued.
Shortly after meeting with Dr. Carolyn Alexander at the Southern California Reproductive Center, Kristen was able to create a “little miracle.”
“The two weeks following the IUI procedure felt like years. To get a correct outcome on a pregnancy test, 2 weeks time had to pass and I had to wait it out but in my heart I knew it had worked. I tested one day early and got the big PREGNANT result staring back at me,” Kristen recalled. “I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited and nervous.”
According to Kristen, Luke wasn’t surprised when she shared their exciting news. However, he was “so happy” that the IUI procedure worked on their first try.
‘He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least!” she gushed. “Our due date is in June and we are really looking forward to expanding our little family and becoming parents!”
As Pump Rules fans may recall, Kristen and Luke met at a friend’s wedding in June 2022, and they got engaged in September as cameras rolled for The Valley season two.
Following their engagement, Kristen admitted that she and Luke were staying busy with plans for their family, but they were also doing their best to relax and enjoy being engaged.
“We’re putting family first,” Luke told PEOPLE at the time.
Months prior, while reflecting on her miscarriage, Kristen admitted that conceiving gave her hope.
“I think it’s not a false sense of hope. We, at that point, had only been trying for a couple of months and we were fortunate enough,” she explained. “So we’re just back on the train trying and fingers crossed. We’re doing right every month exactly how we should be doing it. So yeah, we’re just hopeful.”
The Valley season two is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in early 2025.
