Tom Selleck Reveals the ‘Hardest Part’ of Letting Go of Blue Bloods

Sitting down at the Reagan family dinner table for the final time was admittedly emotional for Tom Selleck. After playing Frank Reagan for 14 years on Blue Bloods, the Emmy winner shared that it was difficult to adjust to not going to set every week.

“The hardest part for me is we had the Blue Bloods family and we had the actors’ family,” he told Parade in an interview published on Friday, December 6. “They’re all my pals. I miss them. It’s going to take a lot of getting used to.”

Of course, the cast all pledged to stay in touch after filming wrapped, as several of Tom’s costars revealed in other interviews ahead of the final two episodes.

Tom, 79, also shared some of his favorite memories from the set of the CBS series, which was full of unforgettable moments and A-list guest stars.

“We were the first show that was allowed to shoot at the 9-11 memorial,” the Jesse Stone actor told the outlet. “That was a special privilege and an important thing for our show. But I have a lot of favorites, I’m happy to say.”

We’ll have to wait and see what happens to Frank and the rest of the crew in the Blue Bloods series finale on December 13. But the December 6 penultimate episode is sure to be one you won’t want to miss. Amanda Kloots will be appearing as a guest star in the episode.

“Eddie and Badillo try to help a man whose apartment has been taken over by a squatter who also happens to be Jamie’s confidential informant,” the second-to-last episode’s official synopsis says. “Also, Danny and Baez investigate when a star student is found dead in her dormitory; Frank suspects the governor has an agenda when he comes to him with a proposal; and Erin oversteps when she tries to play matchmaker for Anthony, on Blue Bloods.”

That juicy summary is jam-packed with interesting story lines that will all come to a head in the show’s final two episodes. As we’ve seen from past episodes, quite literally anything can happen to the characters in the blink of an eye.

Blue Bloods has meant a lot to Tom and the rest of the cast, as well as millions of fans who have been tuning in to each episode since the series first began in 2010. The Magnum, P.I. star revealed that he has some keepsakes with him to mark his incredible run on Blue Bloods.

“When I started the show, I bought a watch to celebrate,” he revealed. “But it was Frank Reagan’s watch. It was a period Rolex. I had it engraved on the back, ‘From Danny, Erin, Joe and Jamie’ I wore that every show. I still have it.”

“Also, I knew he was a Marine, so I bought a Marine Corps ring and had it engraved inside accurately,” he explained. “Those things mean something. I couldn’t bring his desk with me, but that would have been neat.”
