Week 16 – Liverpool vs Fulham – Sport Grill

Liverpool continue their Premier League title push against Fulham at Anfield.

Victory will see table-topping Liverpool potentially move seven points clear of second-placed Chelsea, unless Arsenal beat Everton to move above the Blues and six points behind Arne Slot’s Reds.

Fulham can go fifth with a win before Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa meet in the early evening kick-off.

Team News

Liverpool will be without Alexis Mac Allister who is suspended following his fifth booking of the season, as the Reds drew 3-3 at Newcastle in their last league outing.

Mac Allister also missed their midweek Champions League win at Girona, having been suspended in that competition too for separate accumulation of bookings.

Konstantinos Tsimikas (ankle), Alisson, Conor Bradley (both hamstring), Diogo Jota (rib) and Federico Chiesa (knock) remain sidelined.

Fulham will again be without Reiss Nelson after the winger missed their 1-1 draw against Arsenal due to a hamstring injury, although he was ineligible for the game anyway.

Calvin Bassey is suspended following his fifth booking of the season in that match.

Tom Cairney (suspension), Harrison Reed (knee) and Joachim Andersen (calf) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Fulham at Anfield on Saturday 14 December at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Liverpool have lost one of their last six league meetings against Fulham (W3, D2, L1).
  • Fulham have won one of their last six league visits to Liverpool at Anfield (W1, L5).
  • Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in both league meetings against Fulham last season (W2).
  • Each of Mohamed Salah’s last three league goals at home for Liverpool came in the second half.
  • Just one of Raul Jimenez’s five league goals for Fulham this season was scored away from home.

Prediction

Having scrapped their way to victory at Girona amidst a flat performance despite having had last weekend off, Liverpool really need to try and bring more clinical quality to a game where they will be expected to dominate.

Fulham meanwhile grinded out a solid 1-1 draw against Arsenal with some resilient defending, amidst strong counter-attacking tactics which I do expect to see more of here.

Liverpool though should really have enough quality to see this through but Fulham shouldn’t be underestimated.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
