Week 21 – Saturday – Sport Grill

Neil Harris’ final match as Millwall manager sees the Lions head to Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Victory could put Boro up to fifth if Blackburn lose elsewhere, whilst Millwall can climb as high as ninth with a win in their final game under Harris following his decision to steep down as manager.

Team News

Dael Fry and Riley McGree are doubts for Middlesbrough due to illness following their 3-1 loss at Leeds in midweek.

Rav van den Berg (knee) and Lukas Engel (muscle) could return if match fit.

Darragh Lenihan (fitness/Achilles), Aidan Morris (knee) and Tommy Smith (Achilles) are still sidelined.

Millwall will welcome Ryan Leonard back after he was suspended for their midweek loss at home to Sheffield Utd.

Shaun Hutchinson (hamstring) is a doubt but Josh Coburn (foot) and Jake Cooper (knee) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Middlesbrough host Millwall at Riverside Stadium on Saturday 14 December at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Middlesbrough are unbeaten in four of their last seven meetings against Millwall (W2, D2, L3).
  • Millwall have won one of their last eight visits to Boro (W1, D3, L4).
  • Neil Harris’ Lions have scored one goal in two of their last three visits to Middlesbrough.
  • Finn Azaz has scored three goals in two of Middlesbrough’s last three home matches (W2, L1).
  • Millwall have won one of their eight away matches this season (W1, D5, L2).

Prediction

Getting a result at an in-form Leeds was always a tough ask for Boro and it unsurprisingly came down to small defensive errors, so I expect them to bounce back here if can some consistency on their own turf.

Millwall though will be right up for this game as they look to send Harris out on a positive note, and their luck is due to change after two narrow defeats in which they’ve been wasteful.

Teesside however hasn’t been kind to Millwall in their recent visits and with Boro eager to return to their strong form, I fancy the hosts to edge this but it will be close.

Prediction: Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall
