With The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills kicking off the show’s fourteenth season, Jennifer Tilly, who had previously appeared as a guest, officially joined the cast of the Bravo series as a friend of the Housewives.
The actress will appear alongside castmates Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Sutton Stracke, and Garcelle Beauvais, who are returning from last season, and new Housewife Bozoma Saint John. Kathy Hilton will also make guest appearances with Jennifer.
Who Is Jennifer Tilly?
The Los Angeles native has been an actress and voice actress for over four decades. She got her start in small parts in the early ‘80s, eventually building her career toward an Academy Award nomination in 1994 for her role as Olive Neal in the Woody Allen film Bullets Over Broadway.
She is also a World Series of Poker bracelet winner, the first celebrity to achieve such a recognition.
Jennifer is no stranger to the lavish drama found among the wealthy women of Los Angeles, and she’s sure to continue bringing her unique charm to the show as a friend of series mainstay Sutton. In her own words, the new guest star on the series is a “runaway train.”
What Is Jennifer Tilly Known For?
The GLAAD Award winning actress continued making a name for herself after her Oscar nod as the lesbian femme fatale in the movie Bound in 1996.
As a horror icon, she rose to scream queen status with her roles in the Child’s Play franchise beginning in the late 90s, including Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky and most recently the Chucky reboot from 2021. She’s also starred in the Syfy/USA series, Chucky, since 2021.
She also lent her distinguishable talent to Fox, voicing Bonnie Swanson on Family Guy for the last 25 years in addition to her on-camera work.
The actress has been open about her thoughts on her career. Earlier in her life, she “used to be really big on self-deprecating humor but then realized that whatever you put out there is how people see you,” she told The Cut in October 2022, adding that she regrets letting critics and fans think she had low self-esteem, or couldn’t be a leading actress, just because she enjoyed taking barbs at herself now and then.
“I look back on my career and I look at parts I did like Bound,” she continued, “and I really sold myself short. I totally could have been the leading lady. I always used to be up against Joan Cusack because the types of parts she’d play were the types of parts I’d play, but I was never up against movie stars like Julia Roberts.”
Jennifer Tilly’s Relationship History
The Liar Liar actress was married to cocreator and coproducer of The Simpsons, Sam Simon, for seven years, from 1984 until their divorce in 1991.
After Sam’s death in March 2015, he reportedly left 30 percent of his Simpsons royalties to his ex wife, an arrangement Jennifer has said allows her to be choosy with her roles absent financial pressure.
Jennifer Tilly’s Professional Poker Career
Jennifer is a legitimate professional poker player and the first celebrity to win a World Series of Poker bracelet, which she earned in 2005. To date, she’s earned over $1 million in winnings as a professional card player.
